PV Sindhu Early Life:

Pusarla Venkata Sindhu was born in Hyderabad and spent her early life in Hyderabad only. Her father P. V. Ramana is an employee of the Indian Railways. Both her parents played volleyball. Her father, Ramana, was a member of the Indian volleyball team and won a bronze medal in the 1986 Seoul Asian Games. He also received the Arjuna Award in 2000 for his contribution to the sport. She lives in Hyderabad, Telangana and studied at Auxilium High School, Hyderabad, and at St. Ann’s College for Women, Hyderabad. She joined All England Open Badminton Champion and begins playing at the age of eight. Initially, she learned the basics of the sport under Mehboob Ali at the badminton courts of the Indian Railway Institute of Signal Engineering and Telecommunications in Secunderabad.

After seeking the initial training, she joined Pullela Gopichand’s Gopichand Badminton Academy and won an immense of titles under 10 years category. She won 5th Servo All India ranking championship in both doubles and the singles category

  • In Under-13, she won the titles Sub-juniors in Pondicherry, doubles titles at Krishna Khaitan All India Tournament, IOC All India Ranking, the Sub-Junior Nationals and the All India Ranking in Pune. In the Under 14 category, she achieved the gold medal at 51st National State Games in India.
  • By the age of 14, she entered the international circuit and won a bronze medal in the 2009 Sub-Junior Asian Badminton Championships in Colombo. She won a silver medal in 2010 at Iran Fajr International Badminton Challenge.
  • In 2011, Sindhu won Maldives International Challenge in June and Indonesia International Challenge in July. At the Dutch Open, she reached the finals but lost the match. At Swiss International, she won the Finals and won the India International badminton event in 2011.
  • She showed her great performance at Tokyo Olympics and reached the quarterfinals of Women’s Single Badminton.
