Professional Life:

As far as professional life is concerned, Virat Kohli started his career by playing for the Delhi Under-15 team in October 2002 in the 2002–03 Polly Umrigar Trophy. This first match of his career made him score 172 runs and was then made captain for the 2003–04 Polly Umrigar Trophy by where he scored 390 runs Delhi Under-17 team for the 2003–04 Vijay Merchant Trophy, where he scored 470 runs in four matches at an average of 117.50 with two centuries and top-score of 251. In Delhi Under-17, he won 2004-05 the Vijay Merchant Trophy by scoring runs from 7 matches. In February 2006, he made his List A debut for Delhi and was selected in India Under-19 squad on its tour of England. He earned 105 in the three-match One Day International series against England Under-19s and 49 in the three-match Test series. Soon after this, in September, the India Under-19 team went to Pakistan where Kohli earned 58 in the Test series and 41.66 in the ODI series against Pakistan Under-19s.

In April 2007, he started Twenty20 debut and scored 179 runs at an average of 35.80. In the same year, July–August 2007, the India Under-19 team went to Sri Lanka and acquired 146 runs from 5 matches.

In 2008 February–March, Kohli became the captain of the Indian team Under-19 Cricket World Cup held in Malaysia. He batted at the number and scored 235 runs in 6 matches. This win made him the third-highest run-getter and one of the three batsmen to attain a hundred in the tournament.

Subsequent to the Under-19 World Cup, Kohli entered into the Indian Premier League franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore for $30,000.
