Siddharth Malhotra was born and brought up in Delhi in a Punjabi Hindu family. His father Sunil is a former captain in the Merchant Navy and Rimma Malhotra is a homemaker. He studied at Don Bosco School, Delhi and Naval Public School, Delhi. Later, he joined Shaheed Bhagat Singh College and completed his graduation. When he was just 18 years old, he started modeling and became successful. However, he quit this profession because he was not happy with the profession.
Start-Up in Acting Career:
After making up his mind to do acting, his first audition was for director Anubhav Sinha. Though, the film was shelved. He then worked as an assistant director to Karan Johar in 2010 for his film My Name Is Khan. Eventually, he made his acting debut in Karan Johar’s movie Student of the year in 2012. The film was a big hit.
He was not seen for a year and then appeared with Parineeti Chopra and Adah Sharma in a romantic comedy Hasee Toh Phasee in 2014. He was highly praised for his screen presence. The film performed moderately well at the box office and earned revenues of ₹620 million.
In the same year, he appeared in Mohit Suri-directed Ek Villain. This movie was a thriller and all about a criminal whose wife is murdered by serial killer Rakesh Mahadkar (Riteish Deshmukh). The movie was a commercial success and earned more than ₹1 billion
